The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), based in Geneva, is a humanitarian organization that provides protection and assistance to people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. Our institution employs more than 20,000 staff and is present in more than 100 countries. The ICRC regional sub delegation in Pemba is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following vacancy: 01 Protection Assistant.
Context
The role of the Protection Assistant will be to support the daily operation of the Protection office, with a particular focus on managing the Protection Helpline (active case tracking, referrals and answering calls), receiving people into the office and supporting the Data team with filing.
Job description
The incumbent performs the following activities in the department:
- Receives people into the Protection Office and makes internal and external referrals accordingly.
- In coordination with the Data team, documentation of screening surveys and AoA for visitors to the Protection Office who require the service.
- In coordination with Protection Delegates and Chiefs of Operations, support to field teams, particularly in Pemba, with case documentation and follow-up.
- In coordination with the Data team, support with paper filing of Protection cases and keep them updated.
- Responsible for response to the Protection Helpline, callbacks and referral of internal and external cases.
- Documentation of calls received at the Protection Helpline.
- Performs secretarial tasks such as making photocopies, destroying documents and managing stationary stocks.
- Applies information management instructions and ensures compliance with procedures.
- Prepares meetings by setting up rooms and materials, including technical preparation for conference calls, presentations and video conferences.
Profile - Minimum required and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent training.
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar field.
- Experience working for an NGO or international organization is an advantage
- Excellent command of Portuguese and good command of Macua and/or Mwani
