1. GOAL

The MEAL Intern will work under the MEAL unit at national level under supervision of the National MEAL Manager providing support for the implementation of the MEAL system for humanitarian and development programmes in Mozambique.

After a capacity building process, the MEAL intern will primarily support on data analysis, visualization and use for evidence based decisions by the project managers. He/she will provide assistance to the programs on the use of standard online monitoring and reporting tools, ensuring that all the monthly MEAL reports are compiled and submitted timely and with high quality (IPTTs, QB, Project Review, Project on Track, Complains and feedback data Bases, etc).

Apart from the above, the MEAL intern will provide support to the field offices on specific assignments, data collection exercises, assessments, evaluations, accountability exercises or others according to the need.

Reports to: MEAL Specialist

Work in collaboration with: Provincial MEAL Coordinator and Officers

Staff to be directly involved: Provincial MEAL Coordinators

Additional staff to be involved: PDQ Staff

1. deliverables

1. Monitoring, evaluation and accountability:

Review the data submitted trough the monthly MEAL reports and flag the main concerns for project managers and PDQ team;

Use the data reported to produce simple analysis including infographics to inform Ops and PDQ, showing trends and concerns;

Check the completeness of the monthly reports by province;

Ensure that all the relevant MEAL data in regularly updated in the SharePoint;

Provide field support to the projects while conducting internal studies, assessments or evaluations;

Upload survey tools into KOBO Collect;

Support the projects to run accountability assessment and CFM installation in the field;

Analyze the complains received and flag the main issues and trends.

1. Others:

Participate in any relevant MEAL meetings, training and workshops;

Attend all the relevant online MEAL trainings recommended by the line manager;

Ensure logistics arrangements of the MEAL team on organizing training/workshops as well as field visits;

Complete any other MEAL related activities assigned by Head of MEAL.

1. REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM TASKS

Bachelor's degree in social sciences, information technology, statistics, development or related field;

6 months of experience as intern on MEAL for development/humanitarian project

Computer skills, mainly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PBI;

Software skills in using mobile data collection (Kobo or other)

Skills to analyse data and produce Infographics;

Good in team work towards multicultural values, multi-location;

Availability to work and travel in often difficult environments

A good level of writing and speaking in Portuguese and English languages;

Committed to the values and principles of Save Children International, in particular, a good understanding of the SC's mandate and approach and the ability to ensure that it continues to support our support

1. CHILD SAFEGUARDING

Ensure that children's activities are safe for children and that all measures are taken to ensure their full and safe participation.

Integrate monitoring of CSG issues in to various monitoring tools and checklists. When found CSG or other sensitive complaints/concerns, refer to the focal person immediately, ensure they are addressed timely and communicated back to complainants

It is the ultimate responsibility of this person to ensure full adherence to SCI Child Safeguarding Policy. Failure to adhere to any of the tenets of the aforesaid policy would be deemed a fundamental breach of the Contract.
