Vacancy Announcement
Good Neighbors Mozambique is looking for a Construction Officer based in Pemba.
Outline
- Job Title: Construction Officer
- Type: Full-time
- Location: Pemba, Cabo Delgado
- Name of the project: Community-led Hygiene Improvement Project in Cabo Delgado
- Objective of the project: To build improved WASH conditions and enhance the capacity of schools and government on sanitation and hygiene control in Bairro Chiuba, Cabo Delgado.
- Duration: Fixed-term contract for 5 months (Feb 2025 - June 2025)
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor subcontractor work on hand pumps, school latrines, and communal spaces in schools to meet globally acceptable standards.
- Develop operation and management materials and training plans in coordination with existing and new water committees.
- Conduct operation and management training for water committees.
- Provide weekly and monthly construction reports.
- Work with education partners and government officers to identify, mobilize, and sensitize target communities for proper hygiene implementation.
- Support coordination and effective communication between employers and counterparts in the field (Provincial and Municipal Government Offices, Schools, etc.).
- Build and maintain good relationships with school administrations, local authorities, partners, and relevant stakeholders, providing progress updates throughout the project cycles.
- Participate in WASH cluster meetings.
- Ensure all required inputs are provided on time.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the project schedule is met.
- Participate in the development of new proposals.
- Perform other qualified tasks as instructed by the employer.
Required Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience managing the construction of hand pumps, water supply systems, and school latrines.
- Experience in hygiene awareness and promotion in schools or communities.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Working knowledge of English and Portuguese.
- Must hold a motorcycle license.
- Age over 18.
Advantage:
- Residence in Pemba, Cabo Delgado.
- Fluency in Kimakuwa, Kimwani, or Shimakonde (local languages).
- Work experience in Pemba or other districts in Cabo Delgado.
